Texas State Drone SAR (TSD-SAR) “Flights For Good”
TSD is authorized by the FAA for commercial flights for aerial data collection including photography, videography, infrared imaging, precision measuring, chemical measurement and all other data that can be measured or collected by instruments aboard our UAVs. Texas State Drone is certified by the FAA and carries a $1,000,000 liability policy issued by one of the largest aviation insurance providers in the USA.
TSD can deploy at the request of Federal Agencies, the Governor, State Agencies, local law enforcement, or relief organizations (e.g. Red Cross).
TSD-SAR activates it’s CODE RED request exclusively with agencies, teams and organizations that operate under the Emergency Management System and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Our members have extensive training and hours of experience piloting UAV and UAS aircraft (Drones). All special permissions to fly must be granted by the local, state or Federal agency with jurisdiction in the county of operation. When deployed by Local, State or Federal law enforcement TSD-SAR acts as a function of that department and answers directly to command. TSD-SAR does not perform criminal law enforcement duties or medical services, we act as needed in a support role for that specified department. (e.g. on site aerial real time digital photos, mapping information and HD video to be used for SAR and or incident surveying and documentation).
All TSD-SAR member pilots operate according to all existing State, local and Federal (FAA) rules and regulations as they apply to unmanned aerial systems and vehicles (UAV) (UAS). These services are provided at no cost to the requesting agency on short notice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Availably may be limited by weather, extreme terrain and/or atmospheric conditions beyond our control. TSD-SAR is a 100% volunteer organization with a strong sense of civic duty and responsibility.
TSD-SAR can not respond to civilian requests for missing persons missions. If you are not a law enforcement or official government agency, you must contact your local law enforcement or call 911 to report all missing persons.
Texas State Drone (TSD-SAR) is not a 501-c3 non-profit. Our team operates soley on donations provided by the commercial and private sector.
All donations are used for expenses related exclusively to our member deployment, as in travel, the purchase of supplies and equipment ranging from a case of water to a new unmanned operating system.
